Since 2004 I have been teaching English and English elective courses. In that time, I have taught every grade from middle school through senior and AP courses in high school. Teaching ELL/TESOL I have also worked with elementary through adult classes. I have taught in Michigan and Arizona over the past 16 years. Zambia, Czech Republic, England, France, Italy, and Jamaica are countries were I have been exposed to cross-cultural experiences working or studying culture, language, religion and education. I have taught primarily online since 2018.

Entering my 15th year of teaching I have taught English for grades 7-12 and now teach introductory writing and literature courses for college underclassmen. I have experience building curriculum for middle school and high school English as well as in First Year Composition, Introduction to Literature and Professional and Technical Communication at the college level. I have also taught middle school ESL. I have two years of online teaching experience.

I have worked with children and adolescents my entire career. From mentoring Elementary teachers as part of dual enrollment teaching courses in high school to most recently teaching middle school English and ELL, my career has been centered around my love for kids. I spent many years at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida obtaining degrees to become an educator. I love learning about all my students individually and I hope to be able to teach you something new this year!

I have eight years of experience teaching high school social studies. I taught for five years at a college prep charter school in San Jose, CA and three years at an international school in Thailand. I have taught: A.P.H.U.G., A.P. Macro, A.P. Micro, A.P.U.S.H., Economics, Government, U.S. History and Business and Entrepreneurship. I’m certified by California and Kentucky to teach social studies and I have attended A.P. Summer Institutes for both U.S. History and Economics. Prior to a career I had a 15-year career in consumer marketing working for Move, Yahoo!, eBay, Hasbro and Fruit of the Loom.

Donald Van Bomel

I have been teaching Social Studies for the past 15 years with experience in grades 7 – 12 as well as World History, U.S. History, and Civics (sometimes called American Government). In addition to teaching, I have experience in the digital learning world. I work with students throughout the year who need to remediate courses through online learning options. I work with parents and students to help them achieve their educational goals.
